So I have found this AMAZING artist by the name of Van Taylor Monroe out of Ohio. He has recently been in the news on Access Hollywood and a couple of blog spots for handpainting a “Barack Obama” shoe and a pair were purchased by Wil.I.Am and Hill Harper!!! He is a genius!!! He custom paints on all tennis shoes for different things. He has done some for Darfur, The Marines… and is finishing a custom one of a kind pair for Hill Harper in celebration of the success on his bestseller, “Letters To A Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny”. In Our Lifetime…
6 to go… The countdown began early this morning and you could feel the excitement in the air. What an amazing AMAZING race to the White House!!! Never in my lifetime did I think I would see a Black Presidential Candidate!! As most of you I have been glued to CNN, MSNBC, Huffington Post and every newspaper imaginable to get all the info and find every way to get involved. Obviously, my favorite candidate was the now DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE, Senator Barack Obama… wow… that felt good! That felt GREAT!!! Today is our V-Day as American citizens!
I am so excited, but mores so for the people of my grandmother’s generation who moved from the South to get away from Jim Crow, went to segregated schools, didn’t have the right to vote or SPEAK freely and didn’t have equal opportunities to work and get a college education. And today, those same people are watching Lou Dobbs countdown from 2112 to 2118 to make Barack Obama the Democratic Nominee. I can’t wait to be able to say to my son that he too can be President like Barack Obama! I will be able to say to him that I made calls and volunteered during a presidential race where a black man ran against a woman… and it was close to the bitter end!
It’s a GREAT day to be American! It’s a GREAT day to be a BLACK AMERICAN!! It’s a GREAT day to be a BLACK FEMALE AMERICAN!!! Today I’m so proud to be alive, to be able to witness this change in humanity. The evolution of change is upon us!! Whether you voted Hilary or Barack in your primaries, get excited you were apart of history! Apart of change!! Not Barack’s change… but America’s change… a greater change for Humanity!! And we won!!! We won a battle… now it’s time to win the war against ourself destruction!!!
Invest in your future, in the future of your children and your children’s children… Get involved!! Teach them our history, show them our present, help them claim the future!
YES WE CAN, BECAUSE WE DID, AND WE HAVE TO CONTINUE!!!!!!!

DeFINE Your Destiny~ Letters to a Young Sista!!
Hey!!
I have a new book pick for those of you who have young daughters, nieces, sisters, cousins, friends, etc…. It’s entitled, “Letters To A Young Sister: DeFine Your Destiny”. It is written by a friend of mine, Hill Harper who wrote “Letters To A Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny” which went on to be a bestseller. If you have not read his book or heard him speak (which I recommend you do!!), you may have seen him on the campaign trail spreading the word of a much needed change and campaigning for Barack Obama!
If you read his first book and loved it, I recommend you pick up a copy of this one as well!! Though Hill doesn’t have his own children, he mentors a few and seems to be very intuned with what is going on with young people today… sometimes more than their parents are. His books speak to the thoughts and hearts of young people today and is a good tool of guidance, allowing them to feel heard and understood so they open up their minds to be taught and guided.
