Debating Over The Debate
Friday September 26, 2008, I sit on the floor in front of my unmounted television excited more about what is about to come on than the last three superbowl games! It’s the first debate in the series of presidential debates leading up tot he election between Senators Obama and McCain.
I await the arrival of my liberal partner in crime, Chane’t who is leaving her office just as the Senators walk across the stage. Jim Lehrer, Barack Obama, John McCain… the audience is silent. It begins.
The Senators dance around an unfair question on the economic bailout bill that has yet to formatted or voted on. Small jabs thrown by the GOP toward a collected democratic candidate, but this GOP candidate has YET to address his opponent.
In fact as Chane’t and I barked, swore and cheered at the television, we waited for McCain to acknowledge Obama. Acknowledgement never came. Not even a glance to other side. McCain didn’t even bother to follow the basic format of the debate, which angered me. But I guess if a man can’t answer a single question or go through a debate without mudslinging and stick to the issues, why should I expect him to acknowledge his opponent. He barely acknowledged the format and moderator.
Still I do not believe that Obama won that debate. Obama was well spoken, on point and very presidential. But he lacked a fire and resistence to the opposition that was needed. I waited for the ‘ol one two and then a Mike Tyson blow… it didn’t come. He held his ground and he established himself to be a worthy opponent, he confirmed his leadership qualities, but McCain needed to be put back into his place. I will however say that Obama was much more the gentlemen when it came to jumping on defense.
Next debate… Obama can’t hold back. He must not only be firm on defense, but his offense has to knock McCain off his applebox!
lusting after love
Connection
our eyes meet with a smile on a warm dark night
your greeting is kind
my intentions wrong
face flush, skin on fire
I can only see your lips
there is no sound as I reach out from the inside
casual conversation
end of the night exchange
firm hug and casual innocent sweet kiss without a thought.
Reconnect
our eyes meet with a smile
comfort settles in and a conversation brings in the early morning hours
interception, barrier built, warnings and caution demanded
a distinct path is set and followed.
Comfort and understanding pads each communication
you are my midnight comfort call
when the world sleeps I am awake for you
my pillow, my soundboard, my source of laughter, my gentle critic
what was once a red hot fire is now a warm glow.
New light
something has turned on around your head
I can only see your face
the touch that once made me comfortable is hot to the touch
face flush, skin on fire
I can only see your lips
there is no sound as I reach out from the inside
your hands burn through the fabric of my dress scorching my skin
New path
your texts are bold and full of truth
laying it all on the line
your passion spills over
I’m too nervous to respond
I over think each word, each glance and each embrace
Complete
your lips burn mine
my body is fully awake
how close are we?
what are we doing?
it feels so right, so natural, amazing
all of my sense are awake
how did we get here?
where are we going?
Decisions, Decisions
This is completely gratiutious and shallow but since I have been glued to CNN more in the past 9 months than ever before I am now familiar with all of the anchors. I have been in love with Anderson Cooper for years now. He’s hot and smart and hot… you know what I mean. But now, I’ve become distracted by Don Lemon. Don Lemon has officially become my side dish. If a decision had to be made right now… I really don’t know…both such yummy yummy choices! I am a CNN slut!
